Our handmade flowers were launched a couple of years ago, and being bespoke and entirely customisable, they have proven very popular with brides and wedding guests. Mairi has created them in almost every colour, size and shape imaginable! However, one of our favourite uses for them is incorporating them into a bespoke piece within one of our bridal headpieces.

Nicola commissioned Mairi Brunning Millinery to create this beautiful bridal fascinator, complete with ivory Duchesse satin handmade flowers and merry widow (also referred to as Russian) birdcage veil. We LOVE a good birdcage veil on a bridal fascinator; there are simply some wedding dresses and bridal looks that a birdcage veil complements, that no other veil would sit quite as well alongside.

Nicola’s birdcage veil really does this perfectly. Her Pronovias ‘Kainda’ dress is truly elegant, sleek and refined and needed an item of headwear that was relatively fuss free, but still made enough of a statement to balance the look. By choosing a birdcage veil fascinator, and opting not go for a traditional, longer veil, we avoided disrupting the beautiful silhouette of the dress and really let it be the main star of the show. The fascinator, with it’s equally clean look and being devoid of additional embellishments such as Swarovski crystals or pearls (which we usually love!), ultimately complemented this sleek and sophisticated look.

It was such a pleasure working on Nicola’s handmade ivory satin bridal flower, birdcage veil commission.

But most importantly, doesn’t Nicola look absolutely gorgeous?! It looks like a fabulous day, and what wonderful pictures!

Thank you Nicola for commissioning me and huge CONGRATULATIONS!
