Fascinator Making Hen Party Crieff Combruith
Last May (2015), I received a lovely Facebook message from Colene requesting one of my Fascinator Making Hen Parties for her friend Claire. Over a year in the planning later, on Friday Carolyn and I headed off to Crieff to guide Claire, Colene and 22 of their family and friends through making their very own – and very fabulous – fascinators!
The girls were staying at Combruith in Dalingross, Crieff. Crieff is situated in Perthshire, which is one of the most beautiful parts of the country with truly stunning wildlife and nature, whilst the actual building Combruith is a large turreted hostel (a very nice hostel at that!) in the center of the conservation village of Comrie. It’s owned and run by Comrie Croft, which is an outdoors destination and definitely worth a day trip or camping holiday if you’re in the area.
With the Fascinator Making Hen Party starting at 7.30pm, Carolyn and I arrived half an hour early to lay out all the materials. Colene and the girls were in full swing setting up a space for everyone to work at whilst dining on a beautiful spread and yummy champagne cocktails!
A flurry of feathers, flowers, fascinator bases, birdcage veils, vintage brooches, buttons and many other items in a rainbow of colours were all available for the girls to choose from when creating their fascinators.
The theme of the hen party was 24 Dresses, based around a Romcom theme. They even created their own #24dresses for sharing images on Instagram! I thought this was a very clever idea; I’ll be uploading a couple of pictures to my Instagram account using the #24dresses hashtag too!
Claire’s hens proved to be a very creative bunch! They all created really beautiful fascinators. We always bring a prize for the fascinator we think was either the best, or for the person who perhaps didn’t have much confidence in their sewing skills but ended up creating something fabulous and wearable.
The very next day, Claire and her hens headed to the races, which they all wore their fascinators to! What a fab idea, and don’t they all look marvelous! Thank you so much for asking us to come along to Claire’s hen party. We had so much fun and hope that you did too!
