Recent Custom Made Loop Quill Fascinators: The Michele Fascinator
One of our most popular designs for mothers of the bride and groom and wedding guests this year has been the Michele Fascinator. This design is easily customised using our bespoke commission service. Customers can choose from a variety of elements including (but not limited to):
Colour of sinamay (hat fabric)
Arrow or stripped ostrich quills (hand curled or straight)
Swarovski crystals or pearls in your choice of colour
Satin covered headband in ivory, black, blonde, brunette and a huge variety of other shades
Stripped teardrop coque feathers
Hair vine sections
Contrasting or self coloured trim
Here are four examples of Michele fascinators I have made this year.
Agnes chose to commission a raspberry (pink / red) Michele fascinator with blush nude toned arrow quills and a cluster of Swarovski crystals in Silk. Additional crystals were added along the line of the arrow quills. For some contrast, gold v shaped sections we added to the center of the quills, just underneath where the cluster of crystals sits. We opted for a gold tone, thin metal hair band, so that it could be easily concealed with a little clever hair styling.
Audrey opted for two shades of green; the main body of the fascinator base is in Aqua, whilst the contrasting edging trim is in Jade. Thin loops of sinamay in both Aqua and Jade were added to the centre of the fascinator. Hand curled stripped ostrich quills and teardop coq feathers in aqua sit in between the loops of sinamay. Sand Opal Swarovski crystals are clustered above where the quills and feathers meet, and run sparingly along the lengths of the curled ostrich quills. A blonde satin hairband worked well on this fascinator as it matched Audrey’s hair colour.
When Karen came to meet me to discuss her fascinator commission, I happened to already have in stock the perfect colour match of sinamay to her dress! This pretty shade of blush nude was used for the fascinator base, trim, arrow quills and loops. Swarovski crystals in Silk add a beautiful twinkle to a central cluster and along the lengths of the quills. For some contrast against this mainly blush nude fascinator, v shaped sections of gold were added to the center of the arrow quills. A blonde satin covered hairband finished off this fascinator.
Sandra’s commission was a little different. I created a brand new fascinator base design, which mimicked a bow type shape. As with all of these fascinators, I wired all around the edge of the base, which allowed me to curve it into a really pleasing shape. This design is entirely in an aqua / turquoise shade, with loops and stripped teardrop coq feathers adding height and dimension. Sandra’s dress featured crystals in aqua and white. I sourced the corresponding shades of Swarovski bicone crystals (Pacific Opal and Chalk White) and made hair vine sections that spring out from the fascinator base alongside the teardrop feathers. A black satin hairband was the best match to Sandra’s hair colour.
I loved working on each of these designs equally, but what I really enjoyed most of all was seeing how each customer could truly customise their design to ensure each creation was unique. A bespoke fascinator commission is never run of the mill and the options for customisation are endless!
